The RECAP Project at the RLI is looking for a research consultant to assist on the project's Bangladesh case study.

Job Title: Research Consultant – Bangladesh case study
Duty Station: Home Working, with duties carried out remotely via telephone or online (residence in Bangladesh is preferred)
Duration: 2 weeks (18 January – 1 February 2021). Please note that there should be no expectation of further engagement at the end of the contract

RECAP is a four-year research project that started in 2018, focusing on the health and protection sectors in humanitarian response. It will conduct research and strengthen research capacity to help improve decision-making and accountability in response to humanitarian crises. Within the RECAP project, the Refugee Law Initiative at the University of London leads on research on accountability for humanitarian organisations. 

The Bangladesh case study aims to document and analyse the ways in which approaches to feedback from affected populations informs humanitarian decision-making at this time of particular global challenge. The Research Consultant would be tasked with conducting up to 10 remote interviews (via phone or telephone) with development and humanitarian staff active in locations across Bangladesh. The interviews would be conducted in Bangla, with interviews notes and communications with the research team in English. The Research Consultant would be required to undertake remote training in research, safeguarding and security prior to interviews taking place. Residence in Bangladesh is preferable to enable telephone interviews to take place if required.
