Bio:

Andrew is a PhD candidate at Queen Mary University of London. He is currently researching the UK's Detained Fast Track system of detention, looking at its origins and demise with a particular focus on implications for the rule of law and human rights. The working title of his thesis is: 'Detained without Charge: The use of immigration detention in processing asylum claims'. He has a background in administrative law and judicial review, having spent three and a half years as a judicial associate at the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. In addition to working on migration law in that context, Andrew has volunteered for Asylum Aid in the UK where he completed training to be a caseworker.
