Jessica Klüger

Bio:

Born and raised in Brazil, Jessica Klüger is a product of international forced displacement. Due to her personal background and the inequalities of the country where she grew up, Jessica developed an urge for social and legal justice from a young age. Now, Jessica is conducting a bi-national PhD research between Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and JLU Giessen (‘co-tutelle’), cooperating with the Amsterdam Centre for Migration and Refugee Law and the research consortium MeDiMi. Her research focuses on States' strategic litigation regarding immigration matters at the European Court of Human Rights, particularly in expulsion cases. Before starting her PhD, Jessica was a lawyer in Brazil for more than five years and provided legal advice for refugees and asylum seekers. She completed a master's degree in Public International Law with a specialisation in Human Rights at Utrecht University.
