Lynn Hillary





Lynn Hillary started working as a doctoral researcher at the department of Constitutional and Administrative Law and Legal Theory of the Open University of the Netherlands in September 2018. She researches the principle of mutual trust and external EU asylum law under the supervision of Rolf Ortlep and Carla Zoethout. Her research interests are human rights, European (public) law and migration law. 

After she graduated the LL.M. Public Law in 2015 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, she went on to study International Migration and Refugee Law (VU Amsterdam). While studying, she inter alia worked at the migration chamber of a regional court. 

From 2016 to 2018, Lynn worked as a legal advisor with the Dutch Council for Refugees. She gave legal advice to asylum lawyers and employees of the NGO while also working on their strategic litigation project. 

Starting September 2020, Lynn Hillary is co-coordinator of the working group Migration and Borders of the Netherlands Network of Human Rights Research.
