Following 12 years at Amnesty International and several years working as an environmental consultant, Saphia decided to focus on her primary interest: climate change. Joining the University of Hull’s Wilberforce Institute in 2019, Saphia’s research aims to show the link between the current climate crisis and the exploitation of child migrants. In her prior roles she published a number of books and research reports on a range of human rights topics, including international fair trial law, and guidelines for combating torture in detention. For 10 years she also contributed to Amnesty’s annual report on The State of the World’s Human Rights.
