Bio:

Sreetapa Chakrabarty is an Assistant Professor in Political Science at Rabindra Bharati University (Salt Lake Campus). She completed BA in Political Science from the Department of Political Science, St. Xavier’s College, University of Calcutta in 2015 and MA in Political Science from the Department of Political Science, Rabindra Bharati University in 2017. Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the Department of Political Science, Rabindra Bharati University. Her dissertation focuses on citizenship, rights and Rohingya children in South Asia. Her research interests include international refugee law and human rights law, refugee and stateless children and citizenship and forced migration in South Asia. She has presented papers and participated as a panelist and/or invited speaker at various international workshops and conferences on forced migration, refugee law, refugee and stateless children and human rights law.  

She is also associated in various capacities with the Mahanirban Calcutta Research Group, an international think tank and research organization based in India on forced migration and has since a long time, in collaboration with the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Germany, and The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), Vienna, carried out dialogues, policy advocacies and research on various issues like human rights, forced displacement and migration, peace and conflict resolution, citizenship, border and border conflicts and so on, within South Asia and beyond. She has been engaged with the Refugee Law Initiative as a Research Affiliate since 2020 and is currently a member of two working groups of Refugee Law Initiative – externalization and decolonizing refugee research.
