This second workshop investigating emerging patterns of forced migration on the continent, will examine how external and state responses are causing shifts in cross continental migration routes. It will also explore recent moves to respond to climate induced mobility at regional and continental level.

Questions to be investigated:

  • Does externalisation stop movement?
  • What can international organisations and civilsociety do to help migrants when migrationroutes on the continent change? What is therole of data in these situations?
  • What political power do the RegionalEconomic Communities have in terms ofmigration governance/climate displacement?
