Call for Proposals: Workshop on Feminist Approaches to Refugee Law

The RLI Working Group on Feminist Theory, Refugees, and Displacement is pleased to announce an in-person workshop to be held alongside the 2025 Annual Refugee Law Initiative (RLI) Conference.
📅 Date: Wednesday 4 June 2025
📍 Location: Woburn Suite, University of London, Senate House, South Block, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU
⏰ Time: 14:00 – 17:30 UK time
This workshop provides a platform for scholars, practitioners, and advocates to engage, learn, and contribute to critical discussions on feminist approaches to refugee law.
Workshop Themes
This year the workshop explores: Feminism in Flux: Change, Resistance and Transformation in Forced Migration and Refugee Law. In this context, we ask how gender rights, forced migration and refugee law may be changing – and how to respond to these challenges from a feminist perspective.
Presentations may include relevant themes such as: methodological or theoretical approaches in feminist research, feminist approaches to protection and support, feminist advocacy, and feminist approaches to legal and policy frameworks.
The workshop aims to benefit from the insights and knowledge of speakers with lived experience of displacement.
Workshop Structure
The workshop will be structured in 2 parts:
Part I: Presentations
Part II: Short Briefs on Work in Progress
Part II aims to showcase scholars working on feminist approaches to refugee law and encourage development of this field.
