Beatrice Gornati (Rho, 1988), after a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation, obtained a Master’s Degree in International Relations at the University of Milan with a thesis on migrants’ push-backs under an International Law perspective. After graduation, Beatrice worked as monitoring immigration operator in East Sicily, with the NGO Borderline Sicilia Onlus. Since September 2015, she is a Ph.D. student in International and European Law, with a focus on the topic of The Fights against Migrants’ Smuggling in International and European law. Her research, carried out under the supervision of Professor Marco Pedrazzi and Ilaria Viarengo, concerns international judicial cooperation among States for the contrast of migrants’ smuggling, without neglecting the impact these operations may have on human rights of smuggled migrants.
