Bio

Chiara Scissa, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Deptartment of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna. As part of the ERC StG project “Gatekeepers to International Refugee Law? - The Role of Courts in Shaping Access to Asylum” (ACCESS), she investigates the role of Courts in shaping the right to access asylum in Africa in the context of EU externalization policies. She is also a Research Collaborator on climate change and migration at Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, where she analyses how Courts interpret climate-environmental factors of migration in the RSD process in Italy. She has extensively published on migration in and from the African context, and produced reports for EuroMed Rights, ICMPD and IOM.
