Dr Hanin Abou Salem’s research focuses on the right of return for Palestinian refugees under international law. Her research interests are in the areas of refugee and asylum law, statelessness, forced migration, internal displacement, and human rights Law. 

 

Dr Hanin embodies the spirit of an activist scholar. She uses her expertise in international law to amplify the voices of the most vulnerable and often forgotten people in our societies. Her dedication to defending human rights has earned her a reputation as a compassionate and fearless advocate for refugees, women's rights, and homeless people.

 

In 2023, Dr Hanin received an award for her Contributions to the Arts in Wales. The award served as a testament to her dedication, passion, and efforts to build bridges of understanding through the transformative power of her creative endeavours that help asylum seekers and refugees reclaim their voices and narratives.
