Bio
Dr Jae Hyun Park teaches at the Department of Sociology and Criminology and Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex. Prior to joining academia, she has been a practitioner in the field of refugee and migration for over 15 years having worked at the South Korean Ministry of Justice, UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Uganda and Sri Lanka and South Korean NGOs on North Korean human rights and South Korean asylum system. Her doctoral project at IDS was on refugee returnees as agents of development in their home country through the case of Burmese political refugees returning from South Korea.
