Bio

With 14 years of combined experience in the humanitarian sector and academia, Dr Nour Daoud brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise as a social scientist. Her journey towards attaining a doctorate degree in social sciences commenced in 2017 when she was awarded a fully-funded scholarship from the esteemed University of Padova in Italy. Throughout her doctoral studies, she delved into diverse areas of sociological research, honing her skills in research implementation and analysis.

During the course of her PhD, her focus centered on investigating gender-based violence against women in refugee contexts. This profound research experience exposed her to the harsh realities faced by displaced women and underscored the critical need for effective intervention measures. Driven by this realization, she actively sought opportunities to collaborate with organisations dedicated to alleviating the suffering of vulnerable populations.

Presently, she holds the position of Regional Analysis and Evidence Advisor at the International Committee of the Red Cross in Amman, overseeing the MENA region. This role allows her the privilege of contributing to the development of evidence-based approaches that tackle the complex humanitarian challenges endured by individuals residing in conflict zones. Collaborating with a team of dedicated professionals, her commitment lies in utilising research as a powerful instrument for effecting positive change in the lives of those affected by armed conflicts.
