Bio

Seun Bamidele is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Legal Integration in Africa, Faculty of Law, University of the Western Cape, South Africa. He holds two doctoral degrees, first in Peace and Security Studies (Nigeria) and second in Development Studies (South Africa).

He is a lecturer at the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria and teaches various courses, including Security, Conflict and Development Studies.

His research interests are multidisciplinary, covering African affairs, politics and governance, political crisis management, peace and conflict studies, forced migration, internal displacement, coping and survival strategies of women refugees, development studies, and environmental politics. He facilitates peacebuilding programmes in several African countries.

He has authored highly-rated papers and peer-reviewed articles in Resources Policy; Development Studies Review; Social Change; GeoJournal; African Conflict and Peacebuilding Review; India Quarterly: A Journal of International Affairs; International Journal on World Peace; International Journal on Minority and Group Rights; Jadavpur Journal of International Relations; and African Journal of Legal Studies.

He held scholarships in institutions such as Gerda Henkel Stiftung, Germany; Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa Programme, Social Science Research Council and Carnegie Corporation of New York; CODESRIA College of Academic Mentors Institute, Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), Dakar, Senegal and Carnegie Corporation of New York, USA; Women in International Security (WIIS), Washington, USA; and Equator Peace Academy, Uganda Martyrs University, Uganda.
