Bio

Mr Tasawar Ashraf is a PhD student at Glasgow Caledonian University. His research looks into the securitisation of asylum through bilateral agreements and the role of transit state’s authority in determining the limits of implications for state and non-state parties involved. Tasawar completed his Master in Law (LLM) from the University of Strathclyde with specialisation in international human rights law. Tasawar’s research interests lie in the area of international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and asylum law. Tasawar is particularly interested in the states´ practices of shrinking the humanitarian regime through informalisation of asylum and border cooperation with the transit states.
